Three Types Vibrato Used on the Classical Guitar
- Arm Initiation Vibrato
- Wrist Initiation Vibrato
- Finger Only Vibrato

Used with longer note values to add emphasis.
Movement initiates from the arm. Focus on the elbow moving in and out from the torso.
Example Explained
Execution is similar to the Arm Initiation Vibrato except more movement takes place at the wrist.
Focus on shaking the wrist to create the vibrato.
Note: Thumb is off the neck for the Arm Intitiation and Wrist Initiation vibratos.
Example Explained
Used primarily in electric guitar playing.
The key is to not break the plane that you began with. In other words, after striking the note displace the string downward and return to starting point or displace the string upwards and return to starting point.
