Positioning the Left Hand on the Classical Guitar

  • All of the alignment and mid-range motion principles apply to the left hand
  • They should never be excess of movement in the wrist
  • The fingers should land at an angle to the frets rather than straight on

Example Explained

The left hand on the left shows a good way to land the fingers on the fretboard with a good wrist position.

The left hand on the right shows a very angled wrist and a landing of the fingers very strict and straight.

The position on the right can develop an harmful tension in the hand with prolonged use.
