Right Hand Habits
- Good habits create great guitar players and every time you play a string you are developing habits.
- Remember the key aspects of efficient hand finger movement:
- Fingers must move in sympathy (flex together or extend together)
- Mid-range of motion is ideal for most efficient movement in fingers and wrist
- Arch, alignment, and rotation must be balanced in wrist movement
Example Explained
Ideal positioning with the wrist arched in the mid-range of motion. Too high or low and the fingers move out of mid-range to play the strings efficiently.
Example Explained
Rotation "in" is apparent on the left and "out" on the right.
Each persons' fingers are different, and the rotation should be adjusted to create the easiest motion while playing.
Usually, rotation moves in very small increments as opposed to the exaggeration above.
