RH Thumb Playing the Classical Guitar |
|

|
The Opposable Thumb(p)
- Move from the thumb wrist joint
- Let the tip joint stay relaxed, but do not fire from it to move the string
Example Explained
The thumb is placed on the string and is ready to fire a free stroke on the left.
The thumb has fired and is "aimed" at the middle joint of the "i" finger.
Example Explained
The thumb can play a rest stroke but the hand must rotate out in order to execute it.
Note: The thumb in this photograph does not have a longer fingernail like most classical guitarists. However, the movement is perfection. "No nail" is what happens when you move furniture as a guitarist.
